Greetings!

Firstly, allow me to wish you all a Happy New Year! All of us in the band are particularly excited about the resplendent plethora of opportunities that are presented to us with the advent of a new year. There are so many choices to be made, and so many chances to play and record, as well as other possibilities for aural sumptuousness that we need only to imagine and then harness as a reality for the enjoyment of the world!

We began our timely trail blazing with a slam-bang concert in Waynesboro, PA at an 80’s party for Cadence, a weekly event for young adults at the Waynesboro Otterbeing Church. As if an 80’s party wasn’t fun enough, perhaps the funnest part of the event was learning Bon Jovi’s “Living on a Prayer.” Oh that’s right, Stereoreel covered a Bon Jovi song, and dare I say, it ROCKED! Four lucky young ladies were awarded their very own copies of our EP in a CD giveaway involving our puzzle-like business cards, designed by Ethan. Overall, it was a great experience, and it’s always a joy to meet up with Pastor Lee Reams and

his family (good friends from years gone by).

Honestly, if you live anywhere near Waynesboro and are looking for something fun to do on a Tuesday night, you should pop on over to the church around 6:30 PM. A splendid time is guaranteed! otterbeingchurch.org

You may be thinking that one great show is enough for any band to start the new year off, but Stereoreel had the great opportunity to also play at a New Year’s event for a monthly young adult group called CrossLink. They meet on the first Thursday of every month, so if you live in the Winchester, VA area, look it up. Stereoreel got to lead worship at this event, and enjoyed getting to work with and meet some amazing people. Unfortunately, we don’t have any pictures, so if anybody else does, please post them on our Facebook page.

Ethan also had the good fortune of helping the speaker drive home one of his key points on ignoring distractions and focusing more on God… by running out of the sanctuary whenever his phone began blaring Blur’s “Song 2″ and he couldn’t fish it out of his pocket.

Overall, it was a great way to start the year off right!

WOO HOO!!

It’s 2009, let’s take some time.

“Oh look, yet another Christmas TV special! How touching to have the meaning of Christmas brought to us by cola, fast food, and beer… Who’d have ever guessed that product consumption, popular entertainment, and spirituality would mix so harmoniously?”

Calvin & Hobbes

After seriously OD’ing on turkey and pie several times in the past week, I rediscovered The Afternoon Nap.  It certainly is a thing of beauty.  I also discovered that in can by enjoyed nearly anywhere…in the passenger’s seat on the way home from Grandmas, on the floor in front of the Colts game at the other Grandmas, in a borrowed bed far from home.  I’ve heard that if your coat’s big enough even a park bench will do.

But that’s not why I called you here.  I’m here to mention that we’ll be leading worship twice in the next couple of days.  Here are the details:

Dec 31: Cadence Group New Year’s Eve Party, Otterbein Church, 912 S. Potomac St, Waynesboro, PA.  7pm. otterbeinchurch.org

Jan 1: CrossLink, Market Street UM Church, 131 S. Cameron St, Winchester, VA. 7:55pm. crosslinkva.org.
