Worship + Rock = Stereoreel
Stereoreel was born when Caleb and Dustin started leading worship for retreats with whoever else they could find. One week, one set of guitarists; the next week, another. After a few years of this they decided to begin work on their first album, Save Me. Midway through this process, Seth and Ethan Dean, guitar-playing brothers came along and give us the sound we have now.
Almost every Sunday night Stereoreel finds itself at Grace Community Church in Winchester, VA. If they have a first, foremost goal, it’s that the music they make bring honor to their Creator and point people to the love of Jesus.
“We’re worship leaders first,” says Caleb, the lead singer. “I know you can worship God anywhere, anytime, but there’s something special about being among friends.”
And while we’re on the subject of mathematical equations, here’s another one:
Reverence + Joy = True worship
Our goal on any given night, regardless of the setting, is to bring, in the one hand the reverence that anyone should feel in the presence of the Creator of the stars. In the other hand, the joy that simply comes when a bunch of people gather in a room to sing songs. (When those people are all Christians, the joy is even greater.)
As examples of these we offer these exhibits:
Exhibit 1, on behalf of Reverence:
Those times when our hearts have been so sufficiently focused on God that we dismiss everyone and not a person moves.
Exhibit 2, on behalf of Joy:
The distance that occasionally finds itself between the soles of Ethan’s feet and the stage.
And, with these happy thoughts, we leave you with the words to the bridge of one of our favorite songs:
Sing, sing, sing
Sing it out
Sing, sing, sing
A Little Louder Now!
