52 Weeks-Episode 6: The King Shall Come When Morning Dawns

There’s an ancient Greet lyric that I’ve been considering for awhile. I found it somewhere and loved the words, but consider the tune pretty uninspiring. Not only that, but our modern musical sensibilities require a chorus. So here you are: some old words with a new melody and a new chorus…perfectly timed, given the fact that we’re in the middle of Advent. Enjoy.

HERE’S THE SONG!
Here’s the chord chart.

Here’s the skinny on the original song.

Hello, I saw your post on Worshiptogether.com. I did listen to the song you posted on this site. I like the vocals and lyrics of the song. What kind of musical feel are you going with on this song? What is your Goal? Is it to keep it as close as to the original music and sound? Or are you trying to bring it into the 21st century to reach to a new generation? If your intention is to subtlety improve the song for today with keeping the original feel to the music it is perfect. If you are trying to reach a New Generation you might want to have it more upbeat with Electric Guitar with some distortion coming in and defiantly building up the song as you move forward. You can do so much musically with the song and the words speak truth and light into today, you would just match it up with like I said the feel of how you want the song to be presented. Slow, Medium, Fast / Traditional, Contemporary, Rock. I hope this helps? I have just finished a remake on an older hymn with my two brothers. The hymn is Open My Eyes that I may see. I play electric/acoustic with a cut capo and my other bro plays electric and my other bro plays drums. We took and old hymn and really put a contemporary feel to it. My voice is not the best shape right now however it is on point. I am working on a sample so let me know.

    Best regards,
    Mike P

Thanks for checking out the song, Mike! Here’s the melody that I heard to the song: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/the-king-shall-come-when-morning/id213613416?i=213613622. Check out track #3. There are other on iTunes listed as “The King Shall Come”. Not that there’s a problem with any of them, but, given that the topic is the coming of Christ, I was looking for something that went to a more triumphant place. I could certainly hear the song orchestrated in any number of ways depending on the circumstance. Thanks for your kind words… Caleb
